About the Author.

Nikke Gladwin is a UK-born children’s author living in Australia, where she draws inspiration from the natural world, everyday moments of connection, and her many years supporting children and families. Before becoming an author, Nikke spent over two decades working directly with children and young people, followed by 15 years continuing her work within the community after moving to Australia. This rich experience deeply informs her stories, which centre on emotional wellbeing, empathy, and the importance of feeling understood. Her writing is rooted in a belief that children thrive when they are supported with warmth, patience, and connection. Through gentle narratives and relatable characters, Nikke’s books help children make sense of big emotions while giving adults practical ways to respond with care. She is particularly passionate about co-regulation - helping children calm and understand their feelings through safe, supportive relationships - and her stories are designed to be shared, opening meaningful conversations between children and the grown-ups who care for them.

One of her books was inspired by a visit to Wombat Hollow in New South Wales with her puppy Henry, who is being trained as a therapy dog. Their adventures together reflect Nikke’s love of the outdoors and her commitment to nurturing emotional resilience through connection, curiosity, and kindness.

Nikke’s work offers more than stories; it provides gentle tools for building emotional safety, strengthening bonds, and reminding children that they are never alone in how they feel.
